Chinatown's vibrant restaurant industry has long provided stable job opportunities and cultural support for immigrants who arrive in America with limited knowledge of English and the American way of life. The Chinatown community also provides a launching ground for Chinese immigrants who set out to build new lives as entrepreneurs by creating restaurants and other businesses to serve the region's growing Asian community.
